Japan Visa Requirements & Fees

Japan Visa Requirements: Tourist (Php 1,000.00)

1. Philippine Passport

  • Broken lamination of the photo part is not accepted. Must be valid 6 months prior to travel date. Must have signature and have at least two (2) blank pages.

2. Visa Application Form – A4 size

  • Completely filled out and signed
  • Put application date
  • Put N/A in all spaces that are not applicable specially on page 2
  • Complete the Hotel Name/Address/Contact Details and Name of Airline
  • NO ERASURES

3. Photo

  • Specs: 4.5cm long x 3.5cm wide, with white background
  • Photo must be attached in the application form
  • Photo must be taken within 6 months.
  • Please write applicant’s name and birthdate on back side of the photo.
  • Pixilated, Significantly low resolution photos taken by digital cameras will not be accepted

4. Birth Certificate

  • It must be issued within one year from PSA Main Office/Serbilis Outlet Center (Nationwide).
  • If the birth certificate from Philippine Statistics Office (PSA) is unreadable, or has incomplete information, please submit the birth certificate issued by PSA together with a birth certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar.
  • If the birth certificate is “late registration”, please submit in addition, a baptismal certificate and school record (Form 137) from high school or elementary and School Yearbook (if possible). 
  • If there is no record in PSA, please submit a “Certificate of Non-Record” from PSA together  with a birth certificate from the Local Civil Registrar.

5. Marriage Certificate (if the applicant is married)

  • It must be issued within one year from PSA Main Office/Serbilis Outlet Center (Nationwide). 
  • In case there is no record in PSA, please submit a “Certificate of Non-Record” from PSA together with the Marriage Certificate from the Local Civil Registrar.

NOTE: (4 and 5 must be from NSO main Office/Serbilis Outlet Center (Nationwide) issued within one (1) year). In case of non-record, you must submit a certificate of non-record together with the one from the Local Civil Registrar.

NOTE: Please indicate complete address and land line (telephone, if applicable) of the church in the baptismal certificate, and of the school in school record REQUIREMENTS: All documents must be original unless otherwise stated.

EXEMPTION OF BIRTH CERTIFICATES & MARRIAGE CONTRACT
If the applicant has a passport (old or valid) with a used Japanese visa

6. Daily Schedule in Japan (TAIZAI NITTEIHYO)
7. Personal Bank Certificate (Original - valid at least 2 mos. upon issuance)

  • For Foreign National – photocopy of bank statement with contact details if the account is outside the Phils.
  • Guarantor – FOR SPONSORED/INCENTIVE TRIPS

8. Income Tax Return (Form 2316/ 1700/ 1701/ 1702) original and photocopy in A4 paper

  • Copy of DTI / SEC if the applicant is submitting the company ITR.
  • Of Guarantor – FOR SPONSORED TRIPS

i. Include the SEC of company if submitting the company ITR

  • Explanation letter if the applicant cannot submit due to the following reason:

i. If the applicant has no Guarantor but will submit Bank Certificate
a) Retired
b) Housewife
c) Senior Citizen
d) Etc.

ii. If the applicant is an OFW.

9. Signed Guarantee Letter – (for individual applicants), if applicant/s cannot provide the financial documents (Bank Certificate & ITR).

  • Please use the Guarantee Letter Form of Japan Embassy ( SEE PDF ATTACHMENT )
  • If a person other than the applicant will bear/ shoulder the travel expenses, please be sure to submit a guarantee letter and passport or any proof of identification from guarantor.
  • For family group tours, we used to accept applications without requiring the parents to submit a guarantee letter for their child /children when they file their visa application together. However, todate, please submit a guarantee letter that includes and clearly specifies the relationship of the guarantor to the applicant at all time

Guarantor can be:

  • Parent (either Father or Mother) – if travelling with minors or unemployed children
  • Husband or Wife – if one of them is not submitting financial documents
  • Immediate Relative – if the applicant is a Senior Citizen and will not be able submit financial documents
  • Company - for sponsored/incentive trips
  • Fiancée

10. Affidavit of Discrepancy - if there is a problem with the spelling of names or birth dates in the Birth Certificate and Passport.
11. Photocopy of passport’s Bio page or any Gov’t issued ID and Visa page (if available) – if Guarantor is not an applicant
12. Copy of I-CARD or AEP– For Foreign National or Passport copy if the Guarantor is a Foreign National
13. Authorization Letter and copy of Valid ID – if one of the applicant cannot personally come to file their visa applications.

WHO WILL FINANCE THE TRIP EXPENSES:

1. If Guarantor who lives in the Philippines or outside the country will shoulder part or all of the applicant’s travel expenses (either Filipinos or Foreign passport holder]

  • Guarantee Letter (original) 
  • Proof of relationship between applicant and guarantor (e.g. Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificate, Documents like pictures together, Certificate of Employment, etc.) is/are required even if the applicant has previous Japan Visa. 
  • Guarantor’s Personal Bank Certificate – original (if account is in the Phils.) or Statement of Account (if overseas account) 
  • Guarantor’s Income Tax Return (ITR Form 2316 or Form 1701) (clear Photocopy) 
  • Copy of Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) issued by the Philippine government (both sides) for foreign passport holder or copy of Passport /any government issued ID with signature and picture. 

2. If Applicant is not Philippines nationality]

  • Foreign residents with long-term or permanent status in the Philippines applying for a visa must submit, in addition to the above requirements (except birth and marriage certificates), a copy of their Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) issued by the Philippine government. 
  • Visa application of foreigners who are on short-term (temporary) visa in the Philippines cannot be accepted. Please apply at the Japanese Embassy /Consulate General with jurisdiction over the area in which the applicant resides or over the country of which the applicant’s passport was issued.

Please Note: It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that he/she meets the requirements for the grant of visa. Submission of any supporting documents not listed above is encouraged (e.g. applicant’s economic or social ties with the Philippines, urgent reasons for visit: medical certificate, wedding invitation Submission of requirements does not guarantee issuance of visa.

Reminders:

  •  Size of document for application should be A4 size only. If document is other size, please submit copy that is already adjusted in A4 size from its original and without staples or pasting pages. 
  • Applicants are exempted from submitting (4) and (5) Indicated above if they can submit old/valid passports with used Japan visa. For family application with Guarantor, applicant is still required to submit item (4) or (5) whichever is applicable, even with previous Japan Visa to prove relationship. 
  • It is applicant’s responsibility to ensure that he/she meet the requirements for the grant of a visa. Submission of any supporting documents not listed above is encouraged (e.g. applicant’s economic or social ties with the Philippines, urgent reasons for visit: medical certificate, wedding invitation). 
  • Submission of requirements does not guarantee issuance of visa. 
  • If document submitted for application is verified by Embassy or Consular Office as fake or tampered, visa is not issued. 
  • Documents submitted for application will not be returned. 
  • Applicants are given three (3) months to submit additional requirements. Otherwise application will be terminated. 
  • Reason for the denial of visa will not be disclosed even if an inquiry is made. At the same time, if a visa application is denied, applicant may only re-apply for the same purpose after (6) monthsAdditional documents may be requested where necessary. Applicants are given three (3) months to submit additional requirements. Otherwise application will be terminated.
  • Documents submitted for application will not be returned.
  • When visa is not granted, the reasons of denial will not be disclosed. Applicants may apply again after six (6) month with the same purpose, unless there are emergency / humanitarian reasons, or application for different purpose.
